Tuvalu

I think almost all the people who read this blog don’t know this country. Tuvalu consists of many islands which are on the Pacific Ocean. The population of this country is the second least all over the world and there is nothing representative. Many countries support its economy. For example, in 2007, The Kansai Electric Power Company made some photovoltaic power generation devices in its territory.
However, these days, Tuvalu is getting more and more famous and paid attention by many countries specially developed countries. Why did these things occur? The answer is that Tuvalu is sinking under the surface of the sea. The global warming which developed countries suffer from melts the ice and makes the surface of the sea rise. There are some countries which are sinking under the surface of the sea not only Tuvalu but also all over the world. I think developed countries should think this problem seriously because they mainly promoted the global warming for their own benefits.

The Netherlands

Last week, the drawing lots of FIFA World Cup 2010 were held in South Africa. In shot, the opponents of Japan were decided. So I would like to introduce one of them, the Netherlands.
This country is between Germany and Belgium. We usually call it “Holland”, but the formal name is Kingdom of the Netherland. Where does “Holland” come from? It is derived from one of the state name. This state did an important role when a war broke out between Spain.
Between 1621 and 1847, this country was the only one that trades with Japan. The trade was done in Dejima which was in Nagasaki. Holland brought many European cultural things not only a world map but also medical science. So Japanese were very surprised and realized that they were old-fashioned people. If Holland had not come, Japan would have opened later.
In this way, Holland appears some times in Japanese history. There was an intimate relationship between Japan and Holland.

UAE

This week, I would like to introduce one of the Middle East countries, UAE. Its official name is United Arab Emirates so we call this country UAE.
In this country, there are seven emirates and each emirate has its own emir. They make main decision of this country. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are the two famous and powerful emirates. Traditionally, the emir of Abu Dhabi becomes the president and the one of Dubai becomes the Prime Minister.
The economy of this country depends on fossil fuel and tourism. Many developed countries like Japan imports large amount of oil and natural gas. Then UAE earns much money, we call “Oil Money”, and make a beautiful city.
Dubai is the most beautiful city in this country. We can see a lot of skyscrapers. Many companies all over the world go into this area as a new market. In this way I think UAE makes effort to call in foreign visitors. Do you want to go to UAE?

Brazil

Brazil is the fifth largest country all over the world and is as large as the Continent of Europe. People in this country speak Portuguese.
Speaking of Brazil, we can’t explain this country without sports. In various kinds of sports, Brazil has become the world champion many times. Especially, soccer is the national sport in this country like Sumo in Japan so there are many famous soccer players in the European soccer clubs. When its national soccer team was defeated by France in FIFA World Cup 2006, a lot of people got angry and burned the statue of Ronaldinho who was one of the best soccer players.
By the way, I think the most famous city in this country is Rio de Janeiro. This city has the Rio Carnival in February. And these days, the Summer Olympic Games are going to be held in this city in 2016. This is the first one that is held in the Continent of South America.
In this way Brazil will become an advanced country.

South Africa

This week I would like to introduce Republic of South Africa. This country was located in the southern part of the African continent. I think the most famous city in this country is Cape Town but its capital is Pretoria.
In 2010, FIFA World Cup is going to be held so a lot of stadiums are under construction in main cities. In addition, it is the first time that this tournament is held in African country. However people are worried about its public security. There are many crimes not only stealing but also murders. Rugby is also a famous sport in this country and the national team won the Rugby World Cup two times.
By the way, there are various kinds of languages in this country. They are eleven languages! So when you travel or go to watch the soccer games, you often can’t make yourself understood in English.
In South Africa, there are many other sightseeing spot which I can’t introduce in this essay. I think South Africa is one of the attractive countrys all over the world.

HONG KONG

Hong Kong is a part of China now and its formal name is Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. However, as it was a colony of England, people speak English and Chinese. About ninety-five percent of its population is Chinese but there are still a few English people.
In spite of its small land, Hong Kong has many famous things for example, night view and movie. A lot of high buildings make its night view beautiful. Some movie star like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan are from Hong Kong. These days, the hottest news in Hong Kong is that Hong Kong Disney Park was built.
In this way there are many great things so I recommend you to travel Hong Kong.

SINGAPORE

Singapore is very small country and its name of capital is Singapore, too. I have been there once when I was an elementary school student, and the strongest impression is that every street was very clean and the night of view was beautiful. Some people clean the streets every morning.
If you travel Singapore, you should be careful about two things.
First, you have to care about its climate. You have high temperature and humidity. In addition, you sometimes have heavy rain, it’s called squall, even if it were a sunny day.
Second, in Singapore, there are various kinds of people so we can hear many kinds of languages. For example, one speaks English, another speaks Chinese. However, most of young people were bilingual or trilingual, so you don’t need to worry about it.
Once you travel Singapore, you must feel these things funny. I think it’s worth traveling Singapore.

SPAIN

Spain is the country that I’m very interested in. Spain has its own special culture, history, and so on. A lot of people visit there to enjoy watching sports, to eat food, and to visit historical place.

Various kinds of sports are popular in this country. These days, speaking of football, tennis, and formula1, we can easily think about Spain.

Spanish food like paella, tortilla are also known to everyone. We could eat them in Yuryousai, Hokkaido university festival, this year.

I think the most famous place in Spain is Sagrada Familia which is in Barcelona. Sagrada Familia is one the World Heritage Sites. Although it’s still under construction, you had better visit there.

Spain has many enthusiastic points, so if you travel abroad, I recommend you to visit Spain.
